ONT stands for Optical Network Terminal.
The ONT (also called the modem) connects to the Termination Point (TP) with an optical fibre cable. It connects to your router via a LAN / ethernet cable and translates light signals from the fibre optic line from your TP into electronic signals that your router can read.
At one point in time, only 1 port of your ONT is active and supplying your MyRepublic connection. The rest should have no internet access.
If you signed up for Double Ultra, the 2nd port will be active as well, delivering another 1Gbps connection while using only 1 Termination Point port (it's magic!).

If you’re experiencing connection issues (e.g. lack of internet access or slow speeds), a key troubleshooting step is to try connecting your computer directly to the ONT to see if the problem goes away.
To do this, get a network cable (also known as an Ethernet / LAN cable) and connect your computer to the ONT, plugging it into the ONT’s active port 1 (the one supplying your MyRepublic broadband).
If the problem goes away with a direct connection to the ONT, then the issue does not lie with the MyRepublic connection to your residence, but somewhere within your home networking setup i.e. with your router or your wireless connection or your computer.
If there is no internet when you're connected directly to the modem, follow these steps to power cycle the device:
- Disconnect the ONT’s power supply
- Wait about 5 minutes for the ONT’s internal cache to clear
- Reconnect the ONT’s power supply
If the above steps do not restore internet connection, please contact our technical support hotline @ 6717 1680.

- There is a 3-year warranty for ASUS routers purchased from MyRepublic, backed by the brand’s distributor Avertek Enterprises Pte Ltd.
- As long as you have purchased an ASUS router through MyRepublic, Avertek will provide technical support for the purchased router if it is still under warranty regardless of your MyRepublic contract.
NOTE: Unless specifically told to, do NOT press the tiny “Reset” button on your ONT as it will perform a hard reset that will cause it to stop working. To do a simple reset on your ONT, please perform a power cycle where you power the ONT off and wait about 5 minutes for its internal cache to clear.
